Vacation... Take two!

Today is my first day on vacation... Again! :) I got to Orlando Florida at 10 am this morning. It is beautiful here. If I couldn't have a blizzard than I will settle for the sun and warm weather. I am currently working on shepherds bush Halloween night. I am very close to finishing. I have hopes of havering it done in a few days. Wish me luck! I hope everyone is having a wonderful weekend. To those in the northeast I wish you well. Tata!

Workitis

I went to work for a total of two days this past week. While I should have been doing school work, cleaning, or something more productive. I decided to stare out the window looking for snowflakes. After Wednesday I didn't have to look for flakes anymore, the ground was covered! I seen a cartoon/ comic strip that had four cars at an intersection stopped and one man on top of his car pointing at one snowflake that had fallen, yelling look a snowflake! That would be me. I am a little obsessed with snow, I feel that if it has to be this cold it might as well snow.
Other then staring out the window, I decided to shovel some snow from the steps and ride around with my hubby looking at the beautiful scenery. While I was so excited about the snow, it still caused one problem... hubby had to stay home from work because our restaurant was closed due to the weather. I love spending time with him but I would rather stitch and watch my shows that I like. I also like to do things at my own pace. Like making lunch, Hubby... Candi let's eat lunch. Me... I am not hungry right yet. Hubby... Fine I will starve to death! Sometimes I feel like I have a child to take care of. Who pouts over lunch? Anyway, tomorrow I have to go back to work. I should be fine with going back to work since I only worked two days out of nine, but I have a case of workitis. Workitis- feeling of impending doom when going to work.
On the stitching front, I have decided to work on a range of things. I work on a piece and when I get tired of working on that one, I reach in my bag and grab another piece to work on. Today I have two amazing pieces to show. The picture below is Quaker Diamonds by Rosewood Manor. I enjoy working on this piece. The threads are Valdani and really great to work with.

The next pice is Drawn Thread's ABC Sampler. This piece is very special to me, it is probably my favorite thing to work on recently. It is absolutely beautiful and is stitched using silks. Sorry for the pictures, next time I will iron them. My dinner has cut into the production of beautiful ironed pictures.

Well I am off to stitch while pouting about working tomorrow. Maybe I will stare out the window to see a snowflake but I don't forsee that happening. :( I hope everyone has a great week and doesn't catch workitis from this post.

Back from vacation!!

Vacation was wonderful! I really wish I was still on vacation because this week has been horrible. I have been so wore out that I have come home and turned into a vegetable everyday this week except for today. I do have my fingers crossed for snow tonight, if I could have a snow day or even a delay I would be a very happy person. I have MLK Day off but if I had tomorrow off it would be like a mini vacation. :)
Anyway... Off to stitchiness. On vacation I worked on Shepherd's Bush, Halloween Night. I could have done more but I am stumped. Where I changed the color of the fabric, the letter colored thread no longer works. Does anyone have any idea about which of these colors you would use for the lettering. I was thinking about the golden yellow of the moon and star. What do you think?

I was going to start Green Snowman but I felt bad because I had so much started so I decided to work on Lizzie Kate, Summer Alphabet.

I will leave everyone with a picture of a beach at Nassau, Bahamas.

Everyone that is getting snow, stay warm and cross your fingers that I get snow here on the Eastern Shore of Virginia!

Vacation/ Resolution Update

Hello everyone! I am happy to say that I am leaving for a week vacation tomorrow! My husband and I are leaving from Baltimore on a 7 day cruise to Port Canaveral FL, Nassau, and Free Port Bahamas. Before I leave I want to tell everyone an update about my stitchy pieces. Bellow is Quaker Diamonds. I haven't made much more progress than last time because...
On New Years Eve I had a dream about this pattern that I had in my craft room. It is called Halloween Night by Shepherds Bush. I felt like my dream was telling me that I should start this pattern. This pattern is special because I have changed it. I usually don't change patterns much because I pick them out because I love them. But this pattern is different because I love Halloween colors and the pattern called for 20 count cappucino. Well I enjoy bright and smaller things so I chose a 30 count weeks purple fabric. (it isn't called purple but for some reason I didn't write it down) Sorry the picture is a little sideways. At first when I started stitching I was worried about the colors. I kept the colors that the pattern called for because they looked good with the fabric. But as I was stitching I just didn't know if I should continue with them. Until.... I put the backstitch in the house, now it just pops off the fabric. After I finish the hill and backstitch the tombstones and the soon to be pumpkins I know the hill will do the same thing.
As you can see, I am very excited about my new start. This will be one of the two things I will work on during my trip. I m not going to work on Quaker Diamonds because that really isn't a travel piece so I think I will work on this and maybe a colored snowman by Shepherds Bush.
Resolution/ Goal update: The back of my Halloween piece looks as good as the front, next time I will post a picture of it, all threads are neatly placed and cut.  Also, I am soon to start a snowman. Well on my way to keeping my resolution.
Have a great week everyone, I will be back next week with beautiful pictures to show and hopefully a lot of progress!

To all my Stitch and Bitch friends: I am sorry I won't be there this month but I will see you at Super Bowl!

Many Stitchy Resolutions

First, I promised to share Shepherd's Bush Red Snowman. This was a gift for Christmas and I absolutely love it. My goal is to complete all of the colored snowman. I want to have one room designated to snowmen all year around. Thank you Sally!

I have also made some great progress on Quaker Diamonds.

I don't know what has got into me. Before Christmas I couldn't seem to stitch for more than a half hour, if that. I think I was so overwhelmed that I had to have something complete in a certain amount of time. But now I am out of my slump and well on my way to completing some of these WIP.... and starrting new ones :)
So I have made many stichy New Years resolutions.
  1. (most important!) Make sure to cut all loose threads before they are sent to the framer.
  2. Complete Quaker Diamonds
  3. Complete at least 3 colored snowmen
  4. To finish smaller projects and not put them away
  5. To have ABC Sampler over half done

I feel that these are realistic goals.
Have a great New Year's everyone!

Final finish for 2012

So far I am having a great Christmas vacation. I want to share a finish that I completed about a week ago. This will be my last finish for the year. This is Lizzie Kate Boo flip-its. I think this turned out wonderful. I love all the colors and my favorite part is the buttons as eyes.

Here is what I am working on now. This is Rosewood Manor, Quaker Diamonds.

I took these pictures with my phone before I go my amazing new camera for Christmas. I got an olympus waterproof/shock proof camera. It is amazing and I can't wait to use it on my vacation starting next week. With that being said, I must tell about a present that I recieved for Christmas. I recieved a beautiful Shepherds Bush piece that I will share next time. I must take a picture of it with my new camera!
I hope everyone had a blessed Christmas and may you all have a happy New Year!

Take 3!

I have tried to write this post 3 times now and for some reason when I add a picture my whole post is deleted except for the pictures! Grrrr.... Well here goes again!
As some of you may know, I teach 5th grade. For the past couple weeks we have been using our class blog and a program called twiducate. My students are now obsessed with blogging and tweeting. it has made me miss my blog, I feel that I have been neglecting it. Anyway... enough of me pouting.
These first two pictures are both Shepherds Bush. The first one is called Cherry Heart, I was my mom's secret Santa and this was her gift. The next was for Sally. I don't have pictures of the pieces after they were framed because they went straight from the framer to our annual Stitch and Bitch Christmas Dinner.

My secret Santa was Jackie and here is what she made me. It is beautiful! Thank you again!

Next I have Casting a Spell by Blackbird designs. I found the box at Hobby Lobby and painted it black.

Below is a picture of the finished pieces that I have by Jackie Du Plessis, this was a class that I took in August. There are quite a few more pieces but they are not complete yet.

And last but not least this is what I am working on now, this is an older work in progress that I pulled out. I have told myself that I'm not aloud to work on anything else until this is complete. Which will be soon because I have got back in a groove where once I sit down the stitching is plastered to my hand.
I hope everyone had a great weekend!
